On Saturday, August 8th, 2015 The Voyageur Lodge and Cookhouse grounds were transformed into a creative collage of inspired artists. With Batchewana Bay, Lake Superior as the backdrop, over 30 artisans from all across the Algoma District showcased and sold items from their respective collections.

The 5th Annual Arts on The Bay Festival featured naturally harvested wild edibles (Naja Harvesting, Wawa), repurposed furs and leathers for clothing, temporary henna design tattoos in the young artists area, a diverse collection of pottery, jewelry, stained glass, paintings, photography, handmade cards, canoe making, wood turning, published Algoma authors, and more.

‘Clay it Forward’, a project supported by The AGA (Art Gallery of Algoma) and the Community Endowment Fund (United Way) set up an interactive area for folks of all ages to create, decorate and glaze an original work of art made from potters clay. The interactive station was very popular and will be featured as part of the upcoming Emergency Festival at Rocky DiPietro Field near Rhodes Centre on August 15th,2015.

The 5th Annual Arts on the Bay on the grounds of The Voyageur Lodge & Cookhouse was a resounding success. The steady crowd of attendees enjoyed a beautiful day in one of Lake Superior’s favourite bay areas, Batchewana.
